What to Bring
Even though residence hall rooms
are furnished comfortably, most students choose to
personalize their rooms with items from home. However,
most students bring too many items with them. To print
out a check list of some items you may want to bring with
you, click here (Adobe Acrobat Required).

What Not to Bring
Creating a "home"
while living on campus makes your residence
hall room more pleasant and comfortable. When
planning to decorate, we encourage you not to
bring furniture from home.
Because they are potential fire
hazards, the following appliances are prohibited:
hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, sunlamps or any
other appliance with an open heating element. Candles
and incense are also prohibited. The Department of Residential
Life, Housing and Food Service also prohibits waterbeds
and lofts in residence hall rooms.
No pets are allowed in the residence
halls, either on a permanent or visitation basis. You
may keep goldfish or tropical fish in reasonable numbers,
no larger than a ten-gallon tank.
University policy prohibits the
possession of any type of firearm, dangerous weapon,
bullets, fireworks, or explosive device on campus,
including the residence halls.
