Summer Housing

2008 Summer Student Information

Welcome to on-campus living at the University of Nevada, Reno. Students enrolled in course-work are eligible to live in the residence halls, based on availability during the summer. Living on-campus for the summer is both convenient and economical. Our residence halls are only minutes from classrooms, the residence dining hall, the library, and the campus community.

PERSONAL SAFETY

While we are concerned for your personal safety, and we provide information, facility enhancements, and staff to assist in providing a safe environment for our residents, the ultimate responsibility for your safety rests with you. Dangerous behavior or poor choices can place your personal safety at risk. To help protect yourself, please observe the following recommendations:

  1. Make personal safety your number one priority. Awareness, Avoidance and Risk Reduction is the best way to not be a victim.
  2. Travel in groups of two or more and always travel in well-lit, heavily traveled areas.
  3. Tell someone where you are going and when you will return.
  4. Carry a whistle or noise maker. This can serve as a reminder to exercise caution, and can alert someone in the area that you need help.
  5. Be alert! Look around you; be aware of who is on the street and in the area. Make it difficult for anyone to take you by surprise.
  6. If listening to music, keep the volume low so you can hear what is going on around you.
  7. If you exercise at night or in the dark, do so with a friend and wear bright reflective clothing.
  8. Follow your intuition… trust your feelings
  9. If you know you are going to be studying and or working late on campus, plan ahead as to how you will get home safely.
  10. ALWAYS – ALWAYS lock your doors and windows
