Resident Director for Nye Hall
Hey, I'm Kenner Barnes and I'm from Juneau, Alaska. I have an M.A. in Public Administration. I like yoga, creative cooking, and have aspirations to someday* write the Great American Novel (i.e. when I'm older and have a better idea of what it should be about.).
As the Resident Director of Nye I have a few goals for our community:
1) Improve our scholastic achievement - I believe that since we are attending university academics must remain at the top of the priority list. Using our own department resources, programming and partnerships with others in the university community, I know we can have the best scholastic year yet!
2) Help create a fun and safe space where we enjoy living - We work where we live and live where we work. If we aren't having any fun during the year then college could end up being a pretty trying experience. Between myself, your RAs, hall council and returning community members there should be no lack of people wandering around if you have a question, have an idea, or just need a fourth for a game of cut-throat game of Monopoly.
3) Strengthen our hall council and community involvement and programming - Nye already has an outstanding history of hall programming and community involvement. My goal for this year is for there to always be enough opportunities for anyone who wants to participate within our community. Between hall council, RHA and Residence Life activities - there will always be a way to get involved.
