Kiosk Allows for Faster Orders and Shorter Lines in the DC-Store
The DC-Store now features an express kiosk where students can order their own food. The kiosk offers students one stop for ordering and paying for combo meals and pizza.
"It's faster," said Ashley Scott, an 18-year-old undecided major. "You don't have to wait in line. You can come here and swipe and get on with your day."
The kiosk was a response to student requests for faster service, particularly during evening hours, according to Russ Meyer, associate director for housing operations and dining services. "We met with students last spring, and they told us this was a priority. We investigated products offered by a couple of companies before deciding to develop our own 'home-grown' system because we thought it would be more cost-effective."
Barbara Hanke, resident dining director said, "Students are extremely happy to have the ability to order food themselves. They find it much easier and quicker." According to Hanke, as many as 150 students per day currently are using the kiosk. She hopes this number increases significantly once more students are aware of the program.
